The chapter then details the supernatural birth of Jesus to Mary, explaining that she conceived by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, after being visited by an angel in a dream, is reassured and obediently takes Mary as his wife, confirming the prophecy that her child would be named Jesus (meaning "the Lord saves").
