Matthew 23

Matthew 23

Jesus delivers a scathing public condemnation of the scribes and Pharisees, pronouncing seven woes upon them. He denounces their hypocrisy, saying they place heavy burdens on people while doing nothing to help, and focus only on outward appearances. Jesus mourns over Jerusalem, expressing His desire to gather its people like a hen gathers her chicks, but they refused. He prophesies that the temple will soon be left desolate.
