Micah 5

Micah 5

Micah gives one of the most famous prophecies concerning the Messiah. Although Zion is to be laid waste, the true ruler will come not from a powerful capital city but from the small, insignificant town of Bethlehem Ephrathah. This ruler will shepherd His people and bring them security and peace. Micah promises that this Messianic ruler's greatness will extend to the ends of the earth. In the meantime, God will purify Israel by removing all foreign influences, idolatry, and military reliance.
