Nehemiah 10

Nehemiah 10

The leaders of the community—including Nehemiah, the priests, and the Levites—formally sign a binding written covenant to obey the Law of God. The rest of the community also enters into this solemn agreement with an oath. The terms of the covenant include: no intermarriage with foreign peoples, honoring the Sabbath (no trading on that day), canceling debts every seven years, supporting the Temple service (providing wood, firstfruits, and tithes) for the priests and Levites, and ensuring the Temple remains the spiritual center of the nation.
