Nehemiah 13

Nehemiah 13

After Nehemiah returns to the King in Babylon, he comes back to Jerusalem and finds that the people have violated the covenant. Tobiah (the enemy of the Jews) has been given a room in the Temple. Nehemiah is outraged, throws Tobiah’s furniture out, and cleanses the Temple. Nehemiah also confronts the people for failing to give tithes to the Levites, who were forced to work outside the Temple for food. He stops the Sabbath breaking (trading and carrying loads) and forces the men who married foreign wives to swear an oath to send them away.
