Numbers 12

Numbers 12

Moses faces a challenge to his authority from his own family: Miriam and Aaron criticize Moses for marrying a Cushite woman and question his unique standing with God, claiming God also speaks through them. God suddenly calls all three to the Tent of Meeting and forcefully affirms Moses’s unparalleled role as one with whom He speaks face-to-face. As punishment, Miriam is struck with leprosy (tzara'at). Moses intercedes for her, and she is healed after a seven-day period of quarantine outside the camp.
