Numbers 14

Numbers 14

The entire congregation rebels, weeping all night and talking of appointing a new leader to take them back to Egypt, rejecting God’s plan. Moses and Aaron fall on their faces, and Joshua and Caleb passionately plead for faith. God's glory appears, and He declares His intention to destroy the faithless generation with a plague. Moses intercedes for the nation, appealing to God’s great mercy and reputation. God forgives them but pronounces a devastating judgment: forty years of wandering in the wilderness, during which all those twenty years and older will die.
