Numbers 17

Numbers 17

Following the rebellion, a test is required to permanently confirm God’s choice of the priesthood. Moses is instructed to take a staff from the leader of each of the twelve tribes, including Aaron’s staff for the tribe of Levi, and place them overnight in the Tent of Meeting. The next morning, only Aaron's staff has miraculously budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds, confirming his selection by God. Aaron’s staff is then placed inside the Ark of the Covenant as a permanent witness against rebellion.
