Numbers 18

Numbers 18

This chapter clarifies the precise duties and support system for the priests and Levites. God emphasizes that the priests (Aaron and his sons) are solely responsible for managing the holy things and bearing the guilt if any rituals are neglected. In return for their full-time service, God declares that the priests and Levites have no tribal land inheritance in Canaan; instead, God Himself is their inheritance. Their sustenance comes entirely from the tithes and offerings brought by the rest of the Israelites.
