Numbers 20

Numbers 20

The Israelites again camp at Kadesh, and Miriam dies and is buried there. The people once more bitterly complain about the lack of water. God commands Moses to speak to the rock at Meribah to bring forth water. However, Moses, frustrated by the people's endless grumbling, strikes the rock twice with his staff. Water gushes out, but because Moses did not sanctify God in the eyes of the people, God severely judges both Moses and Aaron: they will not enter the Promised Land. Shortly after, Aaron dies on Mount Hor.
