Numbers 21

Numbers 21

As the Israelites resume their journey, they attempt to bypass Edom and are attacked by the Canaanites, but Israel defeats them. The people soon become impatient and speak against God and Moses, complaining about the manna and the journey. God sends venomous fiery serpents into the camp, and many Israelites die from the bites. The people repent, and God instructs Moses to make a bronze serpent and put it on a pole. Anyone who looks at the bronze serpent is miraculously healed, prefiguring salvation through faith.
