Balaam delivers two powerful oracles, declaring that Israel is a nation set apart, numerous, and divinely blessed. Balak is furious, but Balaam explains he can only speak what God puts in his mouth, emphasizing that God's covenant blessing on Israel cannot be reversed by human effort or sorcery.
