Numbers 23

Numbers 23

King Balak takes Balaam to various viewpoints, hoping to curse the Israelites. However, every time Balaam opens his mouth, the Spirit of God compels him to speak a blessing instead of a curse. Balaam delivers two powerful oracles, declaring that Israel is a nation set apart, numerous, and divinely blessed. Balak is furious, but Balaam explains he can only speak what God puts in his mouth, emphasizing that God's covenant blessing on Israel cannot be reversed by human effort or sorcery.
