Numbers 27

Numbers 27

The daughters of Zelophehad—Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah—present a critical legal case to Moses. Since their father died without any sons, they ask to be granted their father’s land inheritance to prevent his name from being lost. God rules in their favor, establishing the law that if a man dies without a son, his inheritance should pass to his daughters. The chapter concludes with God instructing Moses to appoint Joshua as his successor, transferring his authority in a public ceremony.
