Numbers 32

Numbers 32

The tribes of Reuben and Gad, seeing the excellent grazing land east of the Jordan River, ask Moses for that land as their inheritance instead of waiting for the promised land of Canaan. Moses is initially angry, accusing them of repeating the faithless error of the spies. They reassure Moses that they will arm their men and fight alongside the rest of the Israelites until Canaan is conquered. Moses agrees, with the condition that they fulfill their promise before settling down.
