Proverbs 20

This chapter deals with deception, laziness, and God's oversight. Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler, and whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Diverse weights and diverse measures (dishonest scales) are both alike detestable to the Lord. The chapter notes that the human spirit is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner parts of the heart. Many a man claims to be kind, but who can find a faithful man? It warns that a person who is constantly begging will go hungry.
