Proverbs 31

This famous chapter is composed of the words of King Lemuel's mother, giving him advice on wise rule and choosing a virtuous wife. She warns him not to waste his strength on women or wine. The final section describes the qualities of the excellent wife (often called the woman of valor). She is hardworking, manages her household efficiently, gives generously to the poor, speaks with wisdom, and is praised by her children and her husband. Her strength and dignity are her clothing, and she fears the Lord.
