Proverbs 8

Proverbs 8

This chapter presents a magnificent second depiction of Wisdom personified as a noble, eternal figure. Wisdom calls out from the busiest places, proclaiming her essential nature. She asserts that she existed before the creation of the world, present when God set the heavens and the sea in place. Wisdom claims to be the source of all authority, righteousness, and enduring wealth. She promises long life and favor to those who listen to her, and warns that those who ignore her harm themselves and love death.
