A vow of integrity from David on how he intends to govern his kingdom and his household. David declares he will sing of mercy and justice. He promises to live a blameless life and not allow any corrupt or evil thing to enter his sight. He states he will banish those with slanderous tongues and haughty eyes. David resolves to only look for faithful people to serve him, and he will daily destroy the wicked in the land, ensuring that the city of the Lord is purified and governed righteously.
