Psalms 102

Psalms 102

A deeply moving lament of an afflicted person, feeling the burden of God's wrath and praying for mercy. The Psalmist is weary, isolated, and physically wasting away, comparing himself to a desert owl and a bird alone on a housetop. Despite his personal despair, he finds comfort in the eternal nature of God: God's throne endures forever, and He will arise and have mercy on Zion, as the appointed time to favor her has come. He is confident that God will hear the groaning of the prisoners and will be praised by all future generations.
