Psalms 106

Psalms 106

A long historical psalm that focuses primarily on Israel's constant rebellion and unfaithfulness. The Psalmist begins by praising God, then systematically lists all the times Israel rebelled in the wilderness—from doubting God at the Red Sea and craving meat, to making the golden calf at Sinai and sacrificing to the dead. The Psalm highlights God's justice but praises His great mercy in not utterly destroying them. The Psalmist concludes with a final prayer for God to gather the scattered people and save them.
