Psalms 115

Psalms 115

A communal hymn challenging the worthlessness of idols compared to the living God. The people pray that God will act for the glory of His name, so the nations will stop asking, "Where is their God?" The Psalmist declares that our God is in the heavens and does whatever He pleases. In sharp contrast, pagan idols have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see, and hands but cannot feel. The people are commanded to trust in the Lord, who is their help and shield, promising blessing upon those who fear Him.
