Psalms 118

Psalms 118

A triumphant hymn of praise for God's enduring loving-kindness and decisive victory. The people declare, "The Lord is good; for His mercy endures forever." The Psalmist affirms that it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes or man. The key verse is the Messianic prophecy: "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone." This is the Lord's doing and is marvelous in our eyes. The Psalm celebrates the day the Lord has made, concluding with a shout of thanks for God's everlasting mercy.

Ezekiel 15

God compares Jerusalem to the vine of a wild grape, which is useless except as fuel for fire. This symbolizes God's plan to destroy the city and make it desolate.

Ezekiel 16

God describes Jerusalem's history as a long, detailed allegory of a foundling baby who was saved and married but then became a promiscuous prostitute to foreign idols.
