Psalms 122

Psalms 122

A joyous Song of Ascent expressing delight at arriving in Jerusalem. The Psalmist exclaims, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.'" The Psalmist praises Jerusalem, the united city built for the tribes of Israel to gather and give thanks to the Lord. The Psalmist commands the people to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you." The Psalm concludes with a vow to seek the good of the city for the sake of God's house.
