Psalms 124

Psalms 124

A powerful song of deliverance acknowledging that Israel's survival is due only to God's intervention. The people affirm that if the Lord had not been on our side, their enemies would have swallowed them alive. The Psalmist praises the Lord for preventing their enemies from seizing them. The people declare, "Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped." The Psalm concludes with the firm declaration: "Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth."
