Psalms 127

Psalms 127

A practical wisdom Psalm emphasizing that all human labor is useless without God's blessing. The Psalmist declares, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." He notes that it is pointless to rise early and stay up late for bread. The Psalm emphasizes that children are a heritage from the Lord and a reward. A man whose quiver is full of them is blessed and will not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies at the gate.
