Psalms 139

Psalms 139

A magnificent hymn of God's perfect knowledge and presence (Omniscience and Omnipresence). David marvels: "O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up." David asks, "Where can I go from Your Spirit?" If he ascends to heaven or makes his bed in hell, God is there. The Psalm celebrates God's intimate role in creation: God knit him together in his mother's womb, and all his days were written in God's book. David concludes with a final prayer: "Search me, O God, and know my heart... and lead me in the way everlasting."
