Psalms 140

Psalms 140

A prayer for deliverance from the violence and traps of malicious men. David cries out to God to rescue him from wicked, violent men who plot evil in their hearts and sharpen their tongues like a serpent. David asks God to preserve him from the proud, who have secretly spread snares and cords to catch his feet. David is confident that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted and establish justice for the poor. The righteous will surely give thanks to God's name, and the upright will dwell in God's presence.
