Psalms 142

Psalms 142

A desperate prayer of lament written by David when he was hiding in a cave (likely Adullam). David cries out to the Lord with his voice, pouring out his complaint and trouble before Him. He laments that no one regards him; refuge has failed him, and no one cares for his soul. David affirms, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." David pleads with God to deliver him from his persecutors, for they are too strong for him, promising that the righteous will gather around him when God deals bountifully with him.
