Psalms 144

Psalms 144

A prayer for victory and blessing upon the king and the people. David praises God as his strength, fortress, and deliverer, who trains his hands for war. David repeats the humble question, "Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him?" David asks God to deliver him from deceitful men. He then prays for the nation’s prosperity: that their sons will be like flourishing plants, their daughters like decorated pillars, their storehouses full, and their flocks numerous. The Psalm concludes: "Happy is that people whose God is the Lord!"
