Psalms 16

Psalms 16

A confident song of faith and hope, affirming the safety and blessing found only in God. David declares, "Preserve me, O God, for in you I put my trust." He affirms that the pagan idols and the sorrows associated with them are worthless. David praises God for the beautiful inheritance he has received, affirming, "The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places." He concludes with a powerful, prophetic declaration that even if his flesh dies, God will not abandon his soul to the grave but will show him the path of life, where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
