Psalms 18

Psalms 18

A mighty hymn of thanksgiving for deliverance from all his enemies, sung by David after God established him as king. David shouts, "I will love you, O Lord, my strength!" He describes his peril when the waves of death surrounded him. God heard his cry and descended from heaven in a storm of smoke, fire, and lightning to rescue him. David details his own integrity, stating that God rewarded him according to his righteousness. The Psalm concludes with a great celebration of God's power and mercy, which is shown to David and his seed forever.
