Psalms 1

Psalms 1

This Psalm introduces the foundational contrast between the righteous and the wicked. The righteous man is declared blessed because he does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly but delights in the Law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. He is compared to a tree firmly planted by streams of water, always bearing fruit and prospering. The wicked, however, are compared to dry chaff that the wind blows away. The path of the righteous is known and watched by the Lord, but the way of the wicked will perish.
