David describes God leading him to green pastures and quiet waters, restoring his soul. Even when he walks through the darkest valley (the valley of the shadow of death), he will fear no evil, for God is with him, comforting him with His rod and staff. God prepares a feast for him in the presence of his enemies. David concludes with absolute certainty: Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
