Psalms 35

Psalms 35

An intense imprecatory prayer (calling for judgment) against David's malicious enemies. David asks God to fight those who fight him, pleading, "Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help." David laments that his enemies return evil for good, secretly setting traps to destroy him even when he mourned and fasted for them during their illness. David prays for their confusion and downfall. He promises that when God delivers him, his tongue will declare God's righteousness and praise Him all day long.
