Psalms 3

Psalms 3

A lament of trust written by David when he fled from his rebellious son, Absalom. David expresses his distress over his numerous enemies who mock him, saying there is no help for him in God. David immediately counters this doubt, affirming that the Lord is his shield, his glory, and the lifter of his head. David cries out to God and knows God answers from His holy hill. He declares he can lay down and sleep peacefully, knowing that the Lord sustains him. David concludes with a plea for salvation, knowing salvation belongs to the Lord.
