Psalms 46

Psalms 46

A powerful song of confidence in God during times of extreme political and natural disaster. The people proclaim, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea." God is declared to be in the midst of Jerusalem, making her safe. God commands all nations to "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations." The powerful affirmation is repeated: the Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
