Psalms 48

Psalms 48

A beautiful hymn of praise for Mount Zion (Jerusalem), the city of God. The Psalm declares, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain." Mount Zion is beautiful in elevation and the joy of the whole earth. The kings of the earth saw the city and fled in terror, overwhelmed by God's defense. The Psalmist urges the people to walk about Zion and count its towers to tell future generations that "This is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death."
