Psalms 58

Psalms 58

A fierce imprecatory psalm (calling for judgment) against corrupt judges and wicked rulers. David asks the rhetorical question: Do these rulers truly speak righteousness? He accuses them of plotting injustice, acting wickedly from birth, and being deaf to the voice of the charmer. David prays for God to smash their teeth in their mouths, and asks that they melt away like a slug or be cut down like a stillborn child. The psalm promises that the righteous will rejoice when they see the vengeance, and men will proclaim that there is truly a God who judges on earth.
