Psalms 5

A prayer for morning guidance and protection. David calls on God early, declaring he will direct his prayer toward God and watch for an answer. He emphasizes that God is not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; the proud and evildoers cannot stand in His sight. David asks God to lead him in His righteousness because of his enemies, asking God to make His way straight. He describes his enemies as treacherous liars and prays for their downfall. David concludes by affirming that those who trust in God will rejoice and be sheltered by Him.
