Psalms 69

Psalms 69

A long, intense Messianic lament where the Psalmist is overwhelmed by suffering. He feels as if he is sinking in deep mire and the flood waters are sweeping over him. He suffers unjustly, enduring reproach for God's sake, making him a stranger to his own brothers. The Psalmist prays for God's vengeance on his enemies, asking that their table become a snare and their dwellings be desolate. The Psalm concludes with a confident turn, praising God's name, knowing God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah.
