Psalms 6

Psalms 6

A prayer of deep distress, marking the first of the seven Penitential Psalms. David begs God not to rebuke him in anger or discipline him in wrath. He is deeply troubled, his soul is vexed, and he is weary with groaning. He asks God to turn and deliver his soul, pleading for mercy, because in death there is no remembrance of God. David lamins that his bed is soaked with his weeping. Suddenly, David finds assurance, commanding his enemies to depart because the Lord has heard the voice of his weeping and will receive his prayer.
