Psalms 72

Psalms 72

A final royal psalm of Solomon, praying for the blessing of a perfectly righteous king. The prayer asks God to give the king true justice and righteousness to judge the poor and save the needy. The king's reign will be one of peace and abundance, extending from sea to sea. Kings of the nations will bow down and bring tribute. The king will deliver the poor and spare the lives of the needy. The Psalm concludes with a magnificent benediction: "Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things!"
