Psalms 79

Psalms 79

A terrible national lament written after Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed. The people cry out that the pagan nations have invaded their sacred inheritance, defiled the Temple, and left the dead bodies of the saints to be eaten by birds. The people ask, "Why should the nations say, 'Where is their God?'" They beg God to pour out His wrath on the nations that do not know Him. The people conclude by asking God to save them for the glory of His name, promising that they will give Him thanks forever.
