Psalms 87

Psalms 87

A short, triumphant song celebrating Zion as the birthplace and spiritual mother of all nations. The Psalmist praises God's love for the gates of Zion. It is prophesied that future generations will declare that all the great nations—Rahab (Egypt) and Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Cush—were born there. The Psalm affirms that "This one was born there," meaning Zion will be the spiritual home for all peoples. The song concludes with the joyful proclamation that all the people's deepest springs of life are in Zion.
