Song of Solomon 2

Song of Solomon 2

The lovers continue to exchange affectionate words. The beloved compares himself to a lily among thorns and a cedar tree. The woman describes her beloved’s arrival, comparing his approach to a gazelle leaping over the mountains. She quotes his beautiful invitation to her: "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away! For winter is past, the rain is over and gone." She warns the beloved to catch the "little foxes" that spoil the tender vines, and concludes by asserting her exclusive devotion: "My beloved is mine, and I am his."
