Zechariah 6

Zechariah 6

The final vision shows four chariots emerging from between two bronze mountains, pulled by horses of various colors (red, black, white, and dappled). These represent God's four spirits/judgments sent throughout the earth. The spirits bring peace to the northern land. Zechariah is then commanded to take gold and silver and make a magnificent crown to place on the head of Joshua the High Priest. The priest is given the symbolic name The Branch, pointing directly to the future Messiah, who will build the true temple and sit on His throne as a Priest-King.

Hosea 1

God commands Hosea to marry a promiscuous wife, Gomer, to symbolize Israel's spiritual adultery (unfaithfulness) against God. Their children are given symbolic names representing God's judgment.

Hosea 2

God uses the analogy of marriage to condemn Israel's pursuit of idols. God promises to strip Gomer bare but will eventually woo her back in the wilderness, restoring her and making an everlasting covenant of peace.
