Isaiah's glorious call to ministry. He sees the Lord seated on a high throne, surrounded by seraphim crying, "Holy, holy, holy." Isaiah is purified by a burning coal and accepts God's call.

God instructs King Ahaz not to fear the invading Syrian and Israelite coalition. God promises a sign: the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son named Immanuel (God with us).

Isaiah confirms the prophecy with two signs: a rapid defeat of the enemy and the birth of his own son, Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. He urges the people to consult God's Law and testimony, not mediums.

A prophecy of the coming Messiah. The people walking in darkness will see a great light. A child is born, and He shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace.

God condemns the wicked rulers of Judah who oppress the poor. God promises to use Assyria as a rod of anger to punish Israel, but Assyria will also be judged for its arrogance.

A messianic prophecy. A shoot will come forth from the stump of Jesse (David's father). This Messianic King will judge righteously and establish peace among all creatures.

A short, triumphant hymn of praise to be sung after God's restoration. The remnant will draw water with joy from the wells of salvation, proclaiming God’s mighty deeds to the nations.

A prophecy of the complete, devastating destruction of Babylon by the Medes. The judgment is so severe it becomes a warning of God's universal Day of the Lord.

A song of taunt against the fallen King of Babylon. The taunt describes the King's fall, comparing his arrogance to Lucifer (Day Star) attempting to exalt himself above God.

A prophecy detailing the complete lament and destruction of Moab. The people will weep loudly over the devastation of their cities and the loss of their wealth.

Isaiah urges the survivors of Moab to seek refuge in Judah. He laments the finality of Moab's destruction, focusing on the loss of their famous wine and harvests.

A prophecy of the imminent judgment of Damascus (Syria) and Ephraim (Israel). Their capital cities will become desolate ruins due to their alliance against Judah.
