Psalms
The Book of Psalms is the primary worship book of the Bible, a collection of 150 sacred songs, prayers, and poems written by various authors, primarily King David. These songs express the full range of human emotion: joy, praise, gratitude, sorrow, anger, doubt, and hope. The Psalms are traditionally grouped into five books, covering different types of worship: psalms of praise, laments, royal psalms, wisdom psalms, and historical psalms. They served as the ancient Jewish hymn book and continue to be a central resource for worship, meditation, and spiritual guidance for both Jews and Christians, teaching believers how to communicate openly and honestly with God in every circumstance of life.
David's majestic hymn of praise. The psalm celebrates God's greatness, glorious majesty, compassion, and the righteousness of His promises.
A celebration of trusting in God, not man. God is the Creator and the helper of the oppressed, blind, and widowed.
A hymn praising God as the Creator and Healer. God gathers the scattered exiles, heals the brokenhearted, and provides snow and ice.
A universal call for praise. The psalm calls on all creation—sun, moon, stars, seas, animals, kings, and children—to praise the Lord.
