1 John 1

1 John 1

John begins by affirming that the apostles were eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ—they had seen Him, heard Him, and touched Him. He writes so that believers may have fellowship with the Father and the Son. John teaches the essential truth that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. He states that if we claim to have fellowship with God but walk in darkness, we lie. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness.
